As I have grown not only in my walk in Christ but also my years on this earth, I have become much quicker to forgive than I did in my younger years. I would like to equate that to having been raised in the church all my life but that simply isn't the case. I had to learn to let go of things for self-healing. Holding onto grudges, hurt, and feelings of inadequacy were just too heavy a burden to carry. However, in learning to forgive I remain steadfast in not becoming a doormat just because I am a Christ follower. I remember that I must be forgive because I have experienced the gift of forgiveness as well.
